Military Boosts Plateau Defense with Advanced Vehicle Upgrade
Jos Afrik24 – In a major push to boost both tactical readiness and troop welfare, Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), has officially commissioned a newly renovated administrative block and a revitalized fleet of operational vehicles.
This strategic upgrade serves as a testament to the command’s commitment to maintaining mission-critical infrastructure amidst the ongoing security efforts of the region.
The commissioning ceremony, which took place on July 16, 2026, drew a gathering of top military personality witnessed Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the outgoing General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and JTF Commander, presided over the event as the Special Guest of Honour, lending his oversight and support to the initiative.
Commander Jibril Umar Abdullahi, the Commander Sector 1 OPEP, opened the event by outlining the extensive scope of the upgrades, noting that the project aligns with the military command’s strategic vision to prioritize infrastructural development and asset management.
The administrative block received comprehensive renovations, ranging from new tiling, painting, and roofing repairs to the creation of a dedicated operations room and upgraded sanitary facilities.
To enhance field mobility and reduce response times, the sector also completed extensive mechanical overhauls, bodywork repairs, and system upgrades for its fleet of operational vehicles.
In a move toward greater sustainability, Sector 1 has integrated green energy by installing solar-powered lighting across its offices and compound, our correspondent who was on ground observed.
Further improvements include the transition of the base kitchen from firewood to cooking gas and the extension of water reticulation by 250 meters from an existing borehole to better serve personnel accommodations.
Abdullahi attributed these accomplishments to a combination of prudent resource management, the commitment of his officers and soldiers, and the ongoing strategic guidance provided by Major General Oyinlola.
