Military Smashes Kidnap Syndicate in Plateau, Recovers N1.3M Ransom
JOS Afrik24 – Hon. Christopher Wallat, the Executive Chairman of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area in Plateau State, has lauded the exceptional leadership of Lt-Col Rasheed Braimoh following a high-impact military raid that dismantled a kidnapping cell.
The operation, which underscores a tightening grip on regional insecurity, resulted in the apprehension of several high-profile criminals and the successful retrieval of ₦1.3 million in ransom money.
Lt-Col Braimoh, who is also the Commanding Officer of the 332 Artillery Regiment in Shendam and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) Sector 9, led the tactical strike on the kidnappers’ hideouts.
According to our correspondent, the breakthrough was characterized by precise intelligence and swift execution, ensuring the recovery of the exact sum previously extorted from a victim’s family.
Official statements from the military command verified that the recovered ₦1.3 million was processed and immediately returned to the rescued victim a video clip monitored by our by correspondent confirmed.
“This is not an isolated success, a similar high-stakes engagement two months ago also gave evidence that the Sector 9 troops rescued a captive and recovered ₦8 million from fleeing bandits”, the military said.
Reaffirmed his administration’s dedicated partnership with Operation Enduring Peace, the local government chairman vowed to provide the necessary logistical synergy to flush out all remaining criminal elements from the council.
Responding, Braimoh lauded Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander, Operation Enduring Peace, for the robust support to wipe out bandits.
He emphasized that the collaboration between the military hierarchy and the Qua’an Pan leadership has been instrumental in maintaining an aggressive posture against crime.
Braimoh further confirmed that all recovered funds, totaling ₦9.3 million across both operations, have been restored to their rightful owners, assuring the public that the military remains on high alert, utilizing information gained from suspect interrogations to dismantle the remaining members of the syndicate and restore lasting peace to the region.
