Jos Afrik24 – Major General Williams Maxwell Dangana has taken direct personal command of operations in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, declaring that he will remain on ground for two weeks to completely dismantle criminal networks in the Community.
Maj-Gen Dangana, who serves in a dual capacity as the General Officer Commanding, 3 Division Nigerian Army and the Commander, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), confirmed that his physical presence in the area signals a critical turning point in the ongoing conflict.
The decisive action comes as an immediate response to a deadly security breach in Bmper village, where a violent assault by armed attackers resulted in the tragic loss of over 25 innocent lives.
To confront the crisis head-on, the Joint Security Task Force, officially transferred its tactical headquarters from Jos to Mangu, our correspondent reports.
The relocation of the military command centre will bring a rapid surge of additional military manpower, heavy combat machinery, and specialized equipment into the troubled local government area, Dangana informed.
Addressing the newly deployed front-line troops in Mangu, Dangana issued strict engagement rules, ordering soldiers to shoot and neutralize any bandits who dare to open fire on them.
He emphasized that the era of defensive postures is over, instructing personnel to meet any armed aggression with overwhelming, decisive force to protect vulnerable communities and secure the general population.
He gave a firm assurance to local residents, pledging that the focused two-week military push will restore permanent peace and eradicate all forms of hostility across the region within the given timeframe.
