Youth Group Lauds Sen Yari’s N216m Scholarship Initiative for Zamfara Students
Abuja Afrik24 – A youth advocacy group, GREATER TOMORROW, has commended Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari of Zamfara West for launching a privately funded N216 million scholarship scheme aimed at supporting underprivileged indigenes.
The comprehensive educational initiative covers full tuition and registration fees across various tertiary institutions for 2,055 indigent and orphaned students drawn from all 14 local government areas of the state.
To ensure financial stability throughout their studies, the program also provides every beneficiary with an additional monthly stipend of N15,000 to assist with transportation and daily living costs.
Praising the intervention, Victor Dogun, the group’s Director of Public Engagement, characterized the effort as a shining example of people-centred leadership.
The group highlighted that providing access to higher education empowers vulnerable youths to overcome personal adversity while safeguarding the broader future of the state.
They noted that such private interventions are crucial at a time when access to quality education requires urgent national priority.
Calling on other public figures and affluent individuals to emulate Senator Yari’s example, GREATER TOMORROW urged governments at all levels to place education at the center of public policy.
The group emphasized that genuine governance exists to serve the public good, warning that public service loses its fundamental value when it fails to equip the younger generation for future challenges.
