Troops of Operation Enduring Peace Rescue 8 Kidnap Victims in Plateau village
JOS Afrik24 – Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued eight kidnapped victims during a deliberate offensive operation in Pandam Forest, located within the Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The late-night raid, carried out at approximately 3:00 am on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, was launched by troops of Sector 9 stationed in Namu Town after they received credible intelligence exposing the presence of the kidnappers inside the forest.
Upon invading the criminal hideout, the military personnel engaged the suspected kidnappers in a fierce shootout as the bandits fired sporadically while trying to retreat.
Amid the chaos of the gun battle, three of the victims managed to break free from their captors, while subsequent clearing and a thorough search of the dense forest by the troops led to the rescue of five more individuals.
According to an official statement released on Friday, June 26, 2026, by Captain Chinonso Oteh, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), the rescued victims are currently in a safe condition, and active measures are being taken to reunite them with their families.
Captain Oteh further noted that troops are maintaining momentum and are currently in hot pursuit to either apprehend or eliminate the fleeing kidnappers.
The successful rescue operation has drawn widespread praise from local communities, who have reaffirmed their readiness to continuously assist the military with actionable intelligence to ensure the criminals are brought to justice.
The leadership of Operation Enduring Peace expressed deep appreciation to the public for their ongoing cooperation and urged citizens to sustain their support in order to neutralize criminal elements and permanently restore peace across the entire joint operations area.
