Presidential or Nothing: Amaechi Rejects 2027 Vice-Presidential Rumors

Abuja Afrik24 – Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Right Honourable Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has strongly dismissed circulating speculations that he is aiming for a vice-presidential slot in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Amaechi expressed visible irritation when asked about the possibility of abandoning his presidential ambitions to run as a subordinate partner.

He specifically rejected the notion of serving as a running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing the rumors as entirely unfounded.

The political heavyweight, who recently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and registered in his hometown of Ubima, clarified that his purchase of the party’s presidential expression of interest and nomination forms was strictly to contest for the highest office in the land.

When pressed on the matter by the interviewer, Amaechi sharply responded, asking the journalist to stop the nonsense and reiterating that he did not buy the form to become a Vice President.

The clarification comes amid intense political realignment, consultations, and power struggles within the opposition block as political parties begin structuring their configurations for the 2027 ballot.

Amaechi’s firm stance cements his position as a frontline contender under the ADC banner, signaling a determined bid to challenge the incumbent administration rather than settling for a secondary role on a joint opposition ticket.
